Wamsley
Electrical Services
Houses, buildings, boats, and the light that goes in all three.
Chapter one
It started with one van and one electrician.
Mike Wamsley went out on his own in 2001. Before that he had spent years on power generation, water treatment and marine industrial work, some of it a long way from Lake Erie.
Today the company is his and his two sons', RJ and Zach, with a crew of seven certified electricians working out of Port Dover. The work has moved upmarket over twenty-five years, into custom homes, lighting control and automation, but the service call has never gone away. Someone still answers the phone when a breaker will not reset.

Certified electricians today
Chapter two
Most of the work is somebody's house.
New builds, gut renovations, rewires, and the kitchen that needs six more circuits than the panel has room for. Hundreds of them since 2001, from a single bathroom to houses that take a year.
- Repairs and troubleshooting
- New construction and custom homes
- Renovations and rewires
- Panel upgrades
- Lighting installations
- Landscape lighting
- Standby generator installation
- EV chargers
- Pool and spa wiring
Chapter three
And the ones nobody lives in.
Retail units, restaurants, fit-outs and the maintenance afterwards. A restaurant that loses power loses the night's covers, so commercial work is mostly about how fast someone can get there and how well the last person labelled the panel.
- Emergency service calls and troubleshooting
- Service upgrades
- LED lighting upgrades
- New construction and renovations
- Automatic backup generator systems
- EV charging stations
Chapter four
Then there is the part nobody expects.
Wamsley wires boats. Working ones.
Mike's marine industrial background is why this division exists. It covers commercial fleets, the Lake Erie fishing tugs, and private vessels: switchboards and AC/DC distribution, navigation and deck lighting, shore power, generators, safety and emergency systems, and Megger reporting when the insulation needs proving rather than guessing.
- New installation design: wiring, panels, controls
- Troubleshooting and repairs
- Navigation and deck lighting
- Power distribution, AC/DC, switchboards
- Megger reporting
- Generator installation, service, repair
- Shore power installation and repairs
- Safety and emergency systems
Chapter five
February, two in the morning, and the road is out.
A standby generator is the one thing on this page you buy hoping never to think about again. Sizing it properly, designing the system, running the gas line and pulling the permits are all part of it, and all of it happens before the first outage, not during one.
Briggs & Stratton and Generac. There is a maintenance list every autumn, which is the right time to get on it.
Chapter six
A house is a different building after dark.
This is the part of the trade Wamsley moved toward: whole home lighting control, motorised shades, audio through the house, the network behind all of it. Certified with Lutron Pro for Caseta and RadioRa 3, with Google Nest Pro, and with Brilliant.

Chapter seven
Norfolk County, and as far as the job is worth driving.
Based at 926 St George St in Port Dover, working across Norfolk County and the surrounding area. Local enough that the van is often already nearby, which on a service call is most of what matters.
Fully licensed and insured.
